Idli Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups idli rice
- 1 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Instructions:
- Rinse the rice and urad dal separately and soak in water for at least 6-8 hours or overnight.
- Drain the rice and urad dal and grind them separately in a blender or food processor. The batter for the rice should be smooth and fluffy, while the batter for the urad dal should be slightly coarser.
- Mix the two batters together and add salt to taste. The batter should be light and fluffy.
- Cover the batter and let it ferment for 8-10 hours or overnight in a warm place.
- Grease the idli molds with oil and fill them with the batter.
- Place the molds in a steamer and steam the idlis for 10-12 minutes or until they are cooked through and fluffy.
- Serve the idlis hot with chutney and sambar.
