 Dosa Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup idli rice
  • 1 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the rice and urad dal separately and soak in water for at least 6-8 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the rice and urad dal and grind them separately in a blender or food processor. The batter for the rice should be smooth and fluffy, while the batter for the urad dal should be slightly coarser.
  3. Mix the two batters together and add salt to taste. The batter should be light and fluffy.
  4. Cover the batter and let it ferment for 8-10 hours or overnight in a warm place.
  5. Heat a non-stick griddle or tawa over medium heat. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the griddle and spread it evenly to form a thin, circular dosa.
  6. Drizzle a little oil around the edges and in the center of the dosa.
  7. Cook until the edges of the dosa begin to crisp and turn golden brown, then flip and cook on the other side for a few seconds.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more dosas.

Serve hot with chutney and sambar. Enjoy!
