Mutton 65 is a popular South Indian dish made with marinated and deep fried pieces of mutton, coated in a spicy, tangy and flavorful batter. Here is a recipe to make Mutton 65:
Ingredients:
- 500 gm mutton (cut into small pieces)
- 1 cup curd
- 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tbsp Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Salt, to taste
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
- 1 tbsp corn flour
- 1 egg
- Oil, for deep frying
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the curd, ginger garlic paste, Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt.
- Add the mutton pieces to the marinade and mix well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, corn flour, egg, and a pinch of salt.
- Heat the oil in a large deep-fry pan over medium heat.
- Coat the marinated mutton pieces in the flour mixture and gently drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the mutton pieces from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges and a side of your choice. Enjoy!
