Mutton 65 is a popular South Indian dish made with marinated and deep fried pieces of mutton, coated in a spicy, tangy and flavorful batter. Here is a recipe to make Mutton 65:

Ingredients:

  • 500 gm mutton (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 cup curd
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 1 egg
  • Oil, for deep frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the curd, ginger garlic paste, Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt.
  2. Add the mutton pieces to the marinade and mix well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, corn flour, egg, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Heat the oil in a large deep-fry pan over medium heat.
  5. Coat the marinated mutton pieces in the flour mixture and gently drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove the mutton pieces from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. Serve hot with lemon wedges and a side of your choice. Enjoy!
